On a recent visit to a business I encountered a severe lack of access. The front entrance was easy to find with its lights and columns, as well as the steps, but there was no ramp in sight. So I looked in the obvious places and still no ramp. After further searching and frustration, I found an out-of-the-way path that wound its way up to the entrance.  It was a pain to get into the business.

Many businesses make it hard for millions of people with a wide range of disabilities and impairments to get to them and their products. These are people who want to come and spend money. They want to buy services and products. If you are a business, isn’t your objective to sell stuff? Does it make any sense to exclude willing customers who want to buy what you are selling? No, it does not make sense. So why does it happen over and over again?

There is a fundamental lack of awareness when it comes to customers with disabilities in the business world. I could go to a thousand businesses and ask them what they are doing to increase access for people with disabilities and impairments, and I guarantee there will only be a handful who have even considered the question. (Please ask this question and share your experiences in the comments section)

If I am correct, then what? That is where We Will Find A Way comes in.
